Task Blog Entry #5: TS01I, Urban Challenges

For this task entry, I chose the paper titled The Institutional Reform of Rural Residential Land in China Based on the Comparison with Vietnam. The authors of this paper are Chao Lin and Junsheng Qiang. Both of the authors are from the Shanxi University of Finance and Economics in China. Chao Lin is a lecturer of the school of public administration at the Shanxi University, and has done his doctoral research at Hannover University in Germany. Junzheng Qiang is a master’s student at the same university and is majoring in land resource management, so they both come from academic backgrounds. Considering that both of the authors come from China, their views of how land administration is conducted best are likely biased towards that of living in a higher population area. Since China’s land is a housing millions more people than Canada’s, their definition of land administration is likely very different as the value and needs of the land change drastically with higher population and different culture.
